Mary Jane has primarily been a filmmaker for many years, and has always been interested in the junction between still photography and motion pictures. This has led her to produce BREATH, her first series to capture motion in stills. The abstraction in these shots is created purely through the lens.

A graduate of York University with a Masters of Interdisciplinary Studies in Film and Social and Political Thought and undergraduate in Photography and Filmmaking at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, Mary Jane has produced, written and directed features and shorts as well as researched, shot and edited documentaries. She has taught filmmaking at Ryerson University and was a visiting lecturer in the inaugural years of the Film Department at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad where she grew up before her family immigrated to Canada.
